Tiskita Jungle Lodge In Costa Rica - The Best Traveler Spot

Located at the proverbial end of the road in southern Costa Rica lies Tiskita Jungle Lodge. The lodge and rooms look out over the ocean and the wildlife is as concentrated and comfortable here as anywhere I have ever been. There are no bird feeders and no hanging bananas for monkeys. There are however, 125 different kind of fruit trees on the property. My favorites were the bread fruit and mangosteen. Absolutely delicious.

Tiskita is owned by Peter and Lisbeth Aspinall. They have been on the property since the late seventies and have created something every nature traveler is looking for. Beauty, comfort, and incredible birding and wildlife viewing. 270 species of birds have been logged here. 'The birding is stupendous - National Geographic Traveller.'

Peter is heavily involved in reforestation projects and has established a nursery of native trees which will be used to establish corridors for wildlife.

Tiskita also supports turtle and Scarlet Macaw release programs. Poachers once took a heavy toll on turtle and bird populations. Tiskita's involvement in funding education and conservation programs has helped locals understand money can be made through tourism if the wildlife is healthy and protected.

From what I saw, the wildlife is rebounding nicely. On one walk I saw birds, monkeys and a sloth. And this was just walking from the pool to my room.

The rooms and food at Tiskita are wonderful. With their massive collection of fruit trees, there is no shortage of wonderful drinks and snacks. Local dishes are prepared with only the freshest of ingredients.

Peter is one of, if not thee, most fascinating person I have ever had the pleasure of walking the forest with. His depth of knowledge and ability to explain the many symbiotic processes going on continuously in the rainforest, make his forest walks an absolute must for any visitor.

During one of our walks, we came across a tree that had recently fallen creating what they call a 'light gap.' Peter proceeded to tell about the importance light gaps play in jump starting growth that has been waiting patiently for the sun rays to give it a chance.

They offer a wonderful tidal walk during low-tide where guests are shown a world only visible when the tide is out. Other activities include horseback riding on a trail that borders the property. The horses are friendly, the ride is easy and the views are unforgettable.

Tiskita is one of those off the beaten places that you read about going to and wonder, wow, can it really be as good as it sounds? Yes, yes, yes, it really can be that good.

what Are Adventurous Spots Available In USA

The USA provides thousands of exciting places to visit and see. This country has superb spots that cater to visitors all over the world. You may be the adventurous type or simply looking for unusual experiences during holidays. Everyone will find something to enjoy in this huge country known as the land of the milk and honey.

Some examples of these places are the Rhyolite Town (the ghost town) in Nevada, the canoe journey through the Duck River in Tennessee, and the riding stables of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The town of Rhyolite would be perfect for those who love to visit places labeled as ghost town. The town of Rhyolite used to be a good place to settle. Most of its former settlers were engaged in mining activities.

It was a lively town with the population of approximately 10,000. A lot of establishments like railroads, mining companies, boarding houses, dance halls, slaughterhouse, blank building, opera house, stores and saloons were built in this town prior to the financial panic in 1907. This financial crisis brought an end to it.

Rhyolite is four miles away from Beatty, Nevada heading west. You will find here the remnants of the buildings and establishments that once were a subsistence of the town. The ruin of Cook Bank is the most famous site here. You can also find written information about the town's history and written descriptions explaining details regarding the buildings and the ruins found.

Visit the Gatlinburg if you enjoy horseback riding. It is located in Tennessee. You can find many riding stables in here that provide horseback riding services, like the Smoky Mountain Riding Stables, the Mc Carter's Riding Stables, the Sugarland Riding Stables, and the Lil' Ponderosa Riding Stables.

The length of the Duck River in Tennessee is nearly more than 240 miles or about 370 kilometers. There are many fresh water species living here. You can find 151 varieties of fish and more than 50 kinds of fresh water mussels existing in the river. Beautiful towns can also be viewed along the Duck River. These towns are the Shelbyville, the Columbia, and the Centerville.

Try traveling along the river by the use of a canoe, a small light boat pointed at two ends and propelled using paddles. This canoe journey is a fun and inexpensive adventure through the Duck River.

Of course there is also the very famous Grand Canyon. This belongs to the US National Park Service. This is actually a very huge and rich archeological artifact. Its vastness and overwhelming beauty is best viewed on a helicopter ride. Recently however, the government also built a platform with glass flooring, such that the visitors could walk on it to the middle of the Grand Canyon and enjoy the breathtaking view below by their feet.

The trip to the USA will never be complete without seeing the majestic Statue of Liberty. This is deemed as the National Monument of the country. It is a symbol of the country's freedom. The statue was a gift of the French to the Americans in 1886. This statue is in the middle of an island. It will take a boat ride to reach the island and appreciate the beauty of the statue up close.

Land Resort Vs Cruise Vacation- Which One Is Best ?

We are in the depths of winter and thinking about our next vacation is both therapeutic and wise. With the economy what it is at the present time and the price of a holiday, that works to relax you and provide fun and excitement be it cruise or land resort, it just makes a great deal of sense to compare these two major types of getaways right now.

Having been on about a dozen cruises, which is a small number compared to some true cruise enthusiasts and to resorts in Barbados, St. Martin, Mexico, both the east and west coasts, Las Vegas and Florida, it could be argued that there is a definite appeal from both land resort and cruise on my behalf and I will be objective when discussing both.

Land resorts, let`s start there.

Most people classify land resorts as all-inclusive resorts which means that the price of the holiday is just that, all-inclusive, and includes all expenses of the vacation included in the one price. This price must include the air travel, the cost of lodging, the food, the services which should include the transfers, the amenities at the resort, all taxes and fees and, last but certainly not least, the alcoholic beverages. My preferences in land resorts begins with the ocean. The resort must be on a warm, sunny beach with a smooth sandy wading area, shade from beautiful palm trees and cooling breezes from off the deep blue sea.

Some benefits of land resorts are:

1. Your holiday is all included in the one price and you should not be, what some people feel is being nickeled and dimed while at the resort.

2. The food is usually pretty good at all-inclusives and the servings are what ever amount you want to eat. The meals are scheduled for certain times of the day which means that snacking is limited. This can be good or bad.

3. The three, four and five star resorts usually also have a large swimming pool as well as the beach, most with organized activities run by staff if you wish to take part or just want to observe the activities.

4. There may be some sports activities also available such as tennis or water sports
at the resort. Usually these types of activities are aimed at the children and, to some degree, are supervised.

5. The scenery can be quite beautiful with the palm trees swaying, warm sand under foot, sparkling sea, the beautiful music of the sound of the waves splashing on the shore and the cooling breezes all of which do a great job of draining the stress that has accumulated since you were last away.

Some other things you may also want to consider about resorts:

You are in one place in one country and any activity away from the resort, including evening entertainment, is done so at your expense.

You may think that the term all-inclusive means the tips are included but the staff of the resort are always looking for gratuities near the end of the week. It could tend to lead to an awkward feeling with the staff.

- The service is not as good at most of the resorts as on a cruise. The fact that all the regular meals are served buffet style is not something that I enjoy.

Cruises, let`s discuss them.

As huge as the modern day cruise ship is, it still must be stated that the fact is the ship is on water. Having said that, some people seem to feel that there is the same motion on cruises that you would experience in a canoe. Well, that certainly just is not the case. These cruise ships have marvelous technology that limits what some people would call motion to almost nothing. People who do experience some degree of discomfort do have medical facilities on board with medication available to them if they did not pack any for themselves. On top of that, the officers in charge of the ship are very well trained and highly experienced in their work to avoid most problems during the cruise.

There are other solutions such as patches and bracelets that have helped many people as well proactively. To put the situation into perspective, the cruise ship`s company of staff and officers would not want to have to deal with a high percentage of 3000 to 4000 passengers becoming ill at the same time while on the cruise.

Some benefits of cruises are:

1. One of the first things that anyone thinks of about cruises is the food and with good reason. The food is excellent and served to your personal tastes and preferences. Lobster, filet mignon, roast beef and things such as smoked salmon and caesar salads are common fare on all cruise these days. Also, there is food available to you at various places on the ship almost 24 hours a day. If you don`t feel like dining in the evening, you don`t have to as other restaurants are available to you.

2. To go along with point no.1, you are assigned to the same table for every meal with the same guests, serving staff and head waiter so the quality of service is what you would expect from a high class restaurant and you should expect nothing less. You will certainly not just be eating but you will be dining and enjoying every minute of the experience. There are also children`s style meals available to your family on request. All you have to do is ask.

3. You will have the opportunity of visiting 3 or 4 countries on each 7 day cruise. Most stops are 9 to 10 hours in length so you have the option of booking a tour or just getting off the ship to stretch your legs and do some souvenir shopping and mingle with the local people of the country. At some ports such as St. Martin, there is a very large gemstone trade and quality products are available at some very attractive prices which, by the way, are negotiable.

4.The cruise lines feel that the entertainment on board ship must be of the highest quality and they do not disappoint. Stage shows, of New York quality, produced in an extremely comfortable theater, are so well attended that you have to be there early to get in. Piano bars and intimate lounges are provided for personal dancing and to get to know other people and rekindle the romance in your life.

5. The overall level of service is excellent. Staff are available at your fingertips for anything you may need or want. If you feel you like to be pampered, try a cruise. Pampering is a cruise ship specialty which isn't to be found at this level and with this consistency on many other vacations.

The down side, if you will, of a cruise is the fact that alcoholic beverages are not included in the price of the trip. However, the price of the beverages are what you would expect to see at any restaurant and are not overly expensive for such things. It, also, tends to provide a level of responsibility during your cruise. There are, however, in most cases, two free cocktail parties provided by the ship to get acquainted with some other people on the cruise served in the theater area prior to the evening dining.

When you started out reading this piece, we wanted to warm up, release some stress and think about your possibilities for your next vacation. The jury is out as to whether a decision has been made between land resorts or cruises, however, it is hoped that reading this has whetted your appetite to look further into the possibilities of getting away for an enjoyable experience even if it is just to make this winter a little easier to cope with and to have something to look forward to. Bon Voyage and don`t miss the boat.

New Hampshire - The Perfect Vacation Spot For Any Season

What do you love to do? Spend hot, sunny days relaxing at the beach and working on your tan? Take in brilliant fall foliage as you hike along a beautiful trail on a crisp autumn day? Or are you a snow worshiper, exhilarated by days on the slopes followed by evenings by the fire, sipping hot cocoa?

Whatever it is that you most enjoy, chances are that you'll find it in New Hampshire. This beautiful New England state, referred to as the Granite State, offers vacationers countless popular activities for all four seasons.

In fact, New Hampshire weather is known for its distinct changes in season. Temperatures can range from the record low of -47 degrees Fahrenheit, (recorded in January, 1934 on the top of Mount Washington) to the record high of 106 degrees Fahrenheit. These, of course, are extreme temperatures.

On the average, the summer temperatures range from the 70's to the low 80's. The days are mostly sunny and beautiful. In the mountainous areas of the Granite State, thunderstorms are common, and can pop up anytime.

Summers draw huge numbers of vacationers to this fun-filled state. The coastal area, very quite during the winter months, comes alive as beach lovers flock to the resorts, hotels, and cottages that line the shore front.

Others are drawn to the mountains, lakes, and rivers of this great state. Campers, hikers, boaters, and nature lovers revel in all that is offered. Fishing, golfing, and antiquing are also popular in this area, which features many quaint New England towns.

The summer heat gives way to cool autumn days, typically in the mid 50's and into the 60's. This is an incredibly popular season for tourism in New Hampshire, due to the famous fall foliage. Visitors flock from all over the world to take scenic drives and participate in foliage tours.

Cascading waterfalls, flowing rivers, and incredible mountain views unfold before tourists as they drive along the spectacular Kancamagus Highway. This is a 28 mile stretch of road that is one of the only two designated National Forest scenic byways in northern New England. Winding your way through the White Mountains, viewing the fall foliage, is an amazing experience.

If you're planning an autumn vacation in New Hampshire, be sure to check out the schedule for local and state fairs. Old time New England charm shines through at the many harvest fairs, and the weather is delightful.

As winter approaches, the brilliant leaves begin to fall from the trees, and the days begin to get cold. In fact, the average winter temperatures range from the 20's into the 30's. This is the time that many yearn for, ski season. The New Hampshire mountain areas are plentiful in ski resorts, hotels, and chalets that draw snow lovers to the slopes. Shopping, dining, and snowmobiling are also popular activities.

New Hampshire winters are long, and for those who don't partake in winter activities, spring is highly anticipated. This season of rebirth, marked by budding flowers and the return of warm weather, is a most welcome time of year in New England.

April is not the best spring month to plan a vacation to the Granite State. It is the coolest of the spring months, and is often rainy and damp. May, on the other hand, is gorgeous. There is nothing quite as beautiful as the trees in bloom, at that stage before the leaves are fully developed. June is also a great month, but has been known to be very hot at times.

Scenic drives, shopping, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing, and visiting tourist attractions are great springtime activities in New Hampshire. If you're ready for a vacation that will truly take you away to a place where hustle and bustle have been replaced with stopping to smell the roses, you'll love New Hampshire.

The Accessories You Must Take For Caravan Holiday

Let's go! Pack up the caravan. It's time to head out to the local caravan parks and holiday homes for a nice, relaxing weekend away from it all. Unfortunately, owning a caravan isn't the only thing you'll need during your holiday parks stay. The exciting world of caravanning means a number of important accessories must be packed before you can set off on your exciting trip.

The really good holiday lodges getaway requires the proper accessories for legal reasons as well as safety concerns. The best example of this is towing accessories which are often essential to get your caravan from town to town and many of these must meet certain legal requirements. Don't forget to pick up a pair of wing mirror extensions for an added touch of safety when towing such a big load. Be sure your towing accessories are strong enough for the weight load.

Since your caravan is basically your home away from home, pack it up with just as many household accessories as you would your home. You'll need a small fridge. They are a necessity for embarking on long holidays and want fresh food for their trip. It also saves money in the long run since you won't be force to eat out every night of your vacation. Small fridges are also wonderful on those hot, summer days. You'll want a nice cool drink as you are enjoying a nice lounge in the sunshine.

Another very important factor to think about when choosing caravan accessories involves the gas supply and its storage. It's true that gas cartridges are a necessity but safely storing your gas supply should be one of your top considerations. There a number of different gas straps and locks being sold that can keep the supply secure, both in transit and onsite. Some of these manufacturers even build measuring devices to check on the amount of gas left as well as if there are any leaks in the system.

Many caravan vacationers too often overlook the proper lighting needed for a holiday homes caravan stay. The different options available for lighting are quite extensive. There is a light and lighting accessory made for every possible need imaginable. Some companies produce electrically powered lanterns while others specialize in gas powered flame torches. No matter what you choose, you'll undoubtedly create a warm atmosphere at night to gather around.

Finally, it is important to remember pack games, books, and other things to keep you entertained. The last thing any holidayer wants is to be bored while on vacation. With the right amount of fun accessories, you can guarantee your caravan parks experience is enjoyable and relaxing.

Holiday Parks- Select With Fabulous Sports Amenities

When you are taking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you can travel to holiday and caravan parks. Most holiday parks are set in areas that offer panoramic views of the beach or mountains, and they offer a host of amenities that will add luxury to your time off from work.

Sports enthusiasts will find many amenities to their liking at caravan parks. Because holiday parks are often set in glorious natural surroundings, walks and hikes are easily available. Sometimes parks offer guided tours of nearby surroundings, which can include ancient castles, beaches and forests, and these are a great deal of fun for you and your friends to enjoy. Other times, you might want to get out in nature alone, and there are many paths and trails ranging in difficulty from easy to athletic available for just such purposes. Should you tire, there are often nearby pubs where you can take a rest and have a snack before continuing on your way.

Swimmers will be delighted with indoor swimming facilities available to many holiday parks. Of course, in warmer months swimming is possible outdoors, but if the weather is inclement, it is nice to have a way to swim indoors as well. If you are traveling with your children, you will appreciate knowing that the indoor pools are staffed with life guards, and that, if you desire, swimming lessons are often available for every member of the family who would like to learn. For avid swimmers, there are times for water games and lap swimming as well.

After a workout in the pool, you might simply want to relax. There are many amenities at caravan parks designed to help you do just that. Saunas and steam rooms help you deep relax your muscles with soothing warmth. Jacuzzis gently massage your muscles with warm water jet sprays, and offer another way to facilitate relaxation at holiday parks.

Other sports activities are usually available at quality caravan parks. Tennis players will gravitate to the courts, and enjoy the sunshine and excellent workout. Golfers will find many opportunities to hone their skills, in courses both on-site at the holiday parks, as well as at nearby golf clubs. Many caravan parks also offer discounts that they have with nearby facilities to guests, such as reduced fees for use of golf courses, restaurants, pubs and more, so be sure to ask.

Japan Culture - Its own specialties and features

Culture of different countries is different. One can easily notice the difference either by the visit, i.e. through experience or through learning their history and customs. Likewise, Japan culture also has its own specialties and features. Regular changes have been noticed in Japan's culture, over the years. Modern Japan came into existence from the ancient traditional Japan and the birth of samurais. No doubt, influenced by culture of many neighboring countries, the modern culture of Japan has its own importance. This distinct culture of Japan is resulted from combination of different cultures. It manifests the creativity, independence and strength of humility of Japanese.

Japan culture is rich in the field of music, literature, art and architecture. The art of Japan is well renowned, from its traditional time to modern era. Japan's animation is known for its artists all throughout the world. Video games, entertainment shows and music play a great contribution in cyber industry. Japan was famous for its music, samurai, geisha and many more. The other uniqueness is in their language, which plays a great role in the Japanese culture. Spoken mainly within the country and leant by many westerners, the language is written in three scripts: - Katakana, hiragana, and kanji. Katakana contains Chinese character while Kanji is imported from China.

Calligraphy, a way of writing characters in a very artistic way, is also a part of Japanese culture. Ink painting or Sumi-e is an art of painting an object. Ikebana is also well known in Japan. It is the art of flower arrangement that is also used many other countries. Japanese culture is also remarkable with regard to theatre arts, as you can still come across traditional theaters in the country. Generally four types of theaters are recognized in Japan- kyogen, bunraku, noh and kabuki. Masks are generally used by performers to depict the characters. Action and dialogues to express emotions are commonly used. A puppet theater highlighting historical plays, known as Bunraku, was a part of Japanese culture during Heian period.

With regards to attire in Japan, kimono is their traditional dress, which is available in variety of designs and colors. It is generally dark color dress, preferably worn by males and at the same time, yukuta, the lighter color dress, is the choice of females. Though these dresses are easily available at several places, but these are generally worn now-a-days on some special occasion. The above stated dresses, theaters, arts and language show diversity in Japanese culture and express their distinct characteristics, which make it one of the best cultures in the world.

How Travel Agents Travel For Cheap ?

Travel agent discounts- also known as fam rates- are everywhere, provided you ask. Here is how you can save a bundle on your next trip:

First off, no company will offer you a discount until you can prove you are a travel agent. To do this, visit the International Association of Travel Agents Network ( IATAN) website and fill out their application to receive your very own IATAN travel agent ID card. They will ask for your agency's IATA or ARC number, as well as general personal info. Total cost: $30.

With your ID card in hand, you are now ready to apply for fam rates with a wide variety of providers. The first place to start is with hotels. The two major chains I use are Hilton and Marriot. In order to qualify for their rates, you have to become a sales specialist for their chain, which loosely translates to a few hours studying for an online exam. Trust me, these aren't difficult.

I've used Marriot just recently on for a two night stay at the Courtyard in Bangkok. The room cost $60 per night with the fam rate, including breakfast. The funny thing is, breakfast alone would have cost $60 for two people! This type of deal is certainly worth the time spent taking the online tests!

Now that you've got the hotels covered, it's time to look for flights. Contact one carrier from each frequent flyer alliance (e.g. OneWorld, Star Alliance, etc.) and sin up for their frequent flyer program. Lean on whichever provider your agency does the most revenue with, and call their service department and speak with a rep regarding their special rates.

Cars are similar to hotels, in that you sign up as a sales specialist and they'll help you out. Whenever you bring a new client to them, ask if they offer special incentive rates for them- and you. For example, Hertz will generally offer 10% to any client you refer, and they're really good about offering travel agents heavily discounted rates on their cars.
