Sights That You Must Go In Frankfurt City Of Germany

There are lots of beautiful areas throughout Germany which are ideal as a base for spending a long weekend or holiday away from home.

But if you prefer cities to the more quiet areas of the country, then Frankfurt should feature high up on your list. It is one of the biggest cities in the whole of Germany, and is a vibrant and exciting place to be.

And of course it is experienced at catering for the tourists too. As you would expect from a city this size, it boasts several main locations that no self respecting tourist should miss. Just be sure to take your camera with you wherever you go!

Your first stop should be Romerberg Square. This is a very picturesque area, and one of the most famous locations in all of Frankfurt. But it hides a secret that not everyone is aware of. While the square has a long history which dates back centuries, some of the current buildings are only a few years old. This is because the square was a heavy casualty of the Second World War. The buildings have been renovated and recreated since then, but they are not the originals. With that said though, they still make for a stunning photo opportunity!

Going from the old to the new, the Main Tower in Frankfurt is another must see. This is located in the heart of the business district as you might expect, but it provides an ideal tourist opportunity as well. This is partly because of the viewing platform which is over 180 metres above ground level. If you have the stomach for it, grab your camera and get the best possible view over the city. And once you have done that you can enjoy a meal in the restaurant there too. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the view as well as sampling some of the city’s most delectable dishes.

If all the sightseeing builds up the need to explore some shops, don’t miss the Zeil. This is Frankfurt’s equivalent of Oxford Street in London, and it definitely should not be missed. One of the best parts of this area is that it is pedestrianised. This means that not only is there no traffic around to worry about, but you can also enjoy the greenery that has become a part of the design of this winding street.

As such, it makes an ideal venue for a day out all year round. During the summer the trees which form a green carpet down the middle of the Zeil act as a nice shady area to relax and rest your tired feet.

There is plenty more to discover in Frankfurt too. But if you do get stuck for ideas then many of the hotels in Frankfurt should be able to offer further advice on attractions to visit.

And, alongside the warm temperatures, the summer promises both a wealth of open-air entertainment and the chance to bag an assortment of attractive bargains. In fact, with most Italians taking the month of August off, it is the perfect opportunity to experience all that Rome has to offer, without its usual hoard of people, and often at a lower cost!

Cited as one of the most interesting events hosted by the city, Fiesta - an annual world music festival - is definitely worth a visit. Offering up a diverse and colourful assortment of musical genres, from jazz and Latin music to sounds from the Caribbean, its programme is packed with fun and entertainment. Not only that, but there are also a number of food stalls and ethnic stands available for you to browse around.

Keeping in line with the musical theme, the Villa Celimontana Jazz festival is another great event to attend. Established in 1994, it has increased in popularity over the years and is one of the longest running events of its kind in Europe. And, what could be more perfect than relaxing under a shady tree whilst listening to some world-class jazz and sipping a cold glass of white wine?

The Marcellus Roman Theatre also plays host to a range of concerts and shows throughout the summer months. Celebrating the best in both Italian and international classical music, literature and poetry, there are over 100 performances to catch. And, set amongst one of Rome’s most scenic archaeological locations, it is well worth taking a stroll around before the entertainment begins.

If the hot weather is too much to handle however, then it might be a good idea to seek out the shady confines of one of Rome’s many parks. Scattered around the city, there are plenty to choose from and all offer up a stunning selection of beautiful views. To truly indulge, pack yourself a picnic and spend the day soaking up the summer atmosphere. Or, if you need to hit the water, then book a day trip to the beach. Only half an hour away from the city, the Mediterranean Sea can make for a great escape when the temperatures soar!

So, if you’re looking for a break this summer, Rome is always a worthwhile consideration. In addition to the numerous events and festivals on offer, there are a huge range of fabulous restaurants to eat in and Rome hotels to sleep in, meaning all budgets are catered for.

Discovering The Most Famous Markets of Bangkok

Covering 35 acres of land with more than 15,000 stalls and 200,000 visitors every Saturday and Sunday, Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok is without a doubt the largest market to be found in the city and one of the biggest and most famous markets in the world.

You can buy pretty much anything and everything there: household accessories, handicrafts, art, antiques, live animals, books, music, clothes, food, plants and flowers. The list could go on almost forever and if variety is what you are looking for, Chatuchak market is the place to go.

Thai handicrafts are a particularly good thing to pick up at Chatuchak market and the intense competition means prices are kept to a minimum. If you are searching for genuine antiques you need a trained eye as the large majority of antiques on offer at this market are fake so exercise caution if it is the real deal you are looking for.

Due to the size of Chatuchak market it is segregated into areas depending on the types of goods sold. This does make life a little easier and maps detailing the various sections can be picked up before you enter.

The official opening hours for the market tend to be from 9.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday and Sunday, though many of the stalls actually open between 9.00am and 10.00am and close around sunset.

There are many more markets to discover besides Chatuchak. Khao San road is a tourist hotspot and the market here sells clothes, books, CDs and similar items.

In close proximity to Khao San Road is the large Banglamphu market which extends over Phra Sumen Road and Chakrapong Road. This market tends to be more popular with the locals so take a trip here if you fancy a more authentic shopping experience.

Pratunam market is open around the clock and is one of the best places in Bangkok to pick up cheap clothes, fabrics and textiles. A little off the beaten track you can find this market at the intersection of Ratchaprarop and Phetburi roads.

Further down Phetburi road is the Nai Loet (also called Nai Lert) market, which is a scaled down version of Chatuchak.

If you like to do your bargain hunting at night time then Patpong night market may be of interest. Very popular with tourists you will find standard market wares here though the prices are not as competitive as you may find elsewhere.

Night markets are preferred by many as the temperatures are slightly lower after the sun falls and this makes for a slightly more pleasant bargaining experience. Temperatures in Thailand are fairly high all year round though it is slightly cooler from November until mid-February so this is something to bear in mind when booking your flights to Bangkok.

Dubrovnik - The Pearl of the Adriatic

Dubrovnik is a city located on the coast at the Southern most tip of Croatia, looking out over the Adriatic Sea towards Italy. The infamous poet, Lord Byron, called it the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, and this walled city with its renaissance architecture and lemon scented arcades really is a site to behold.

It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the whole of the Adriatic, helped by its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In fact, in the middle ages it was the only eastern Adriatic city to rival Venice.

It is a bustling little city, and there is always something going on, whether it be the annual Dubrovnik summer festival which lasts a whole month consisting of live concerts, plays and games taking place in the streets, or one of the many religious events. Also, Dubrovnik and its surrounding islands offer a bountiful selection of activities for the thrill seekers such as coasteering, hiking, snorkelling in the crystal clear waters or water sports such as sailing and sea kayaking.

Approximately 12 miles from the city centre is Dubrovnik’s international airport, where flights arrive daily from, Paris, Vienna, Rome and Madrid, together with budget services from Liverpool, Bratislava, Dublin & London Gatwick to name but a few. However despite the number of visiting tourists the heart of Dubrovnik retains its charm, partly because there are relatively few places of accommodation actually within the old city walls, but these do exist if you search hard enough. These rare opportunities will usually take the form of villa style apartments or refurbished stone houses, some of which will be around 600 years old! There are of course many places to stay just outside of the old town walls, and this is where most tourists will reside.

Wherever you stay, towards the end of the day you can enjoy watching the sun go down behind the terracotta tiled roofs, whilst indulging in the fresh fish and local wines.
